Wishing for Spring

It’s been pretty nasty outside today and it really is supposed to snow tomorrow. Oh Winnipeg! My family and friends in Switzerland often don’t believe me when I tell them about the weather here. It’s just so crazy to think that 8 weeks ago when I arrived in Switzerland spring had already arrived and flowers and trees were starting to bloom. I am holding on to those memories and hopefully that will get me through the next couple of days. I know summer is close but I just miss spring. It’s one of my favourite seasons and it pretty much doesn’t exist here. Maybe I just need to go home to Switzerland more often in spring. Here are a few pictures. The weather was beautiful, temperatures were around 15 degrees and the smell of spring was in the air.

Happy Earth Day

What a wonderful idea Earth Day is! It inspires awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment.

If you know me, you are probably aware that I am a bit of a hippie and I mean that in a good way. Since I was a little girl living in Switzerland I always wanted to protect animals from extinction and I always appreciated the beauty of nature all around me. I recycled from a very early age on and I was known to give little lectures to other people if they weren’t doing the same thing. That’s the beauty of children. They tell you what they think and they are so idealistic. I have stopped lecturing people and have learned that I can better lead by example. I try my best to reduce my ecological footprint in a way that is sustainable in itself. I try hard to incorporate this philosophy into my creative process and live by my tagline “recycle. reuse. recreate.” Each of us can make a difference and we can inspire people around us to do the same.

Please be nice to mother earth!

At the market

I wanted to thank everybody who came to the Forks Market to support me and to check out my spring collection. It was 2 days full of meeting great new people and having a chance to show off my work. I even managed to participate in the chocolate festival and taste some incredible chocolate treats. The Forks Market really is an inspiring place to be at. I am planning on being back to sell my work at the Forks a few times this summer by participating in the Outdoor Farmers Market.

If you missed me this week-end and are looking for the perfect gift for mother’s day just give me a call or send me a quick e-mail to arrange a time to come by my studio (p. 204.510.3939, anjastudios@shaw.ca).

Ciao!

Spring collection

Hi everybody,

Sorry it’s been a while since my last entry. Life has been a bit crazy.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been working on my summer jewelry collection. I have been finding myself very inspired by spring, blooming flowers (even if it’s just cut flowers in my home for now) and smelling the change in the air. Here are a few pictures of my work in progress. If you would like to check out some of the final products please come to the Forks Market this week-end. I am sharing a table with the fabulous ceramic artist Charlene Brown. So there will be lots of eco-friendly jewelry, photography, purses and other textile products and of course pottery from clayhaus. Have I mentioned that the chocolate festival is going on at the same time at the Forks? So come down have some chocolate and buy some fabulous local products from anja studios and clayhaus.

Hope to see you at the Forks this week-end. We will be there Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Ciao!

Anja
