I started designing jewelry about 6 months ago and I absolutely love it. The jewelry is made from recycled pure silver also referred to as fine silver. All pieces are hand crafted and therefore one of a kind. Here are a few to check out. I will post more in the next few days. It can be hard to come home after a long day at work and still have the energy to create. I have been feeling less and less like an artist over the last couple of years because I just didn’t have enough time for it. Last winter I started designing jewelry and something happened again. I couldn’t stop thinking about designs and would dream of new ideas. I started carrying my sketch book with me at all times again and the ideas just keep coming. The inspiration has spilled into all the other mediums of my work. I have been creating day and night. I am an artist with every fiber of my body and it’s all I think about. It feels wonderful. I feel so inspired by life!
Here are a few purses and bags I created last week. My line of bags are made from reused materials. If you would like to find out the story behind any of the bags please let me know and I can tell what they were in their previous lives. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy creating them!

A few times a year the “In Plain View Studio Tour” takes place. You can take a self-guided tour and visit artists in their studio environments and view original art in the setting in which it is created. The final date this year is coming up on June 5/6. I just signed-up to participate as an artist, so if you are interested in seeing my work you can come by my studio between noon and 5:00 on June 5 or 6. My studio is located in the Exchange at the cre8ery gallery, 2nd floor – 125 Adelaide. I have designed some new eco purses and jewelry, so take advantage of the tour and come by to check them out. The 3 pieces of mine that have been accepted are all done in oil on canvas and are all part of the “Prairies” series I am currently working on. I have fascinated by the open space and the large skies on the prairies ever since I moved here from Switzerland. It was a big and exciting day today. I got to move into my new studio space. Working out of my studio at home has been wonderful, but it is a bit like working in a bubble. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice bubble. I think this will be really inspiring for me to be around other artists and become part of the art scene to a bigger degree. The artists I have met so far have been all really welcoming and nice. I can’t wait to spend time at the studio to work and meet the rest of the artist. In total there are 26 artists working out of the space. The studio spaces range from shared to individual spaces. My studio is one of the shared ones (7 artists in a large space). I set up the studio a bit today but I still have to bring my easel, blank canvases etc. I just couldn’t fit anything else into our car. Thanks Kyle for helping me carry and set up my stuff. Here are a few picture. I will make sure to post more once I am working out of the studio. It’s been a wonderful day!
Last week I had the opportunity to photograph the MacDonald Youth Services Gala Dinner for the third year in a row. The event had a vintage carnival theme and the guests were entertained by magicians and a stilt-walking, balloon animal-making clown while playing carnival games and enjoying popcorn and cotton candy.
The live auction featured amazing trips to Churchill, New York, Tuscany and a cruise on the Rhine river. The event raised over $30000 for the Shelter and other MYS programs. What a wonderful event and cause. I had the privilege to meet some wonderful and inspirational people during the event. Enjoy a few of the pictures!
