Home Sweet Home Series

Hi everybody,

It’s been a few days since my last entry. I have been busy preparing for next week-ends studio tour and on top of that K. and I got a dog on Friday. I know crazy! I am sure I will take some photographs of Luna sometime soon and I will make sure to share them. She is lying on my lap as I am typing this. šŸ™‚

I wanted to share a few of the photographs I have been working on over the last few weeks. I am working on an overall series called “Home Sweet Home” all vintage style photographs of my home (Switzerland and other places in Europe). Here are a few of Paris. I hope you enjoy them. If you are interested in purchasing someĀ prints please let me know. I do sell them framed or just the print. Prices are pretty affordable ranging fromĀ $30 to $50 without a frame.

Enjoy and ciao for now!

Jewelry

All pieces are hand crafted and therefore one of a kind. Here are a few to check out. I will post more in the next few days. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind present for a friend or yourself please e-mail me at anjastudios@shaw.ca

Prices range from $10 to $65. Enjoy!

Inspiration

It can be hard to come home after a long day at work and still have the energy to create. I have been feeling less and less like an artist over the last couple of years because I just didn’t have enough time for it. Last winter I started designing jewelry and something happened again. I couldn’t stop thinking about designs and would dream of new ideas. I started carrying my sketch book with me at all times again and the ideas just keep coming. The inspiration has spilled into all the other mediums of my work. I have been creating day and night. I am an artist with every fiber of my body and it’s all I think about. It feels wonderful. I feel so inspired by life!

Here are a few purses and bags I created last week. My line of bags are made from reused materials. If you would like to find out the story behind any of the bags please let me know and I can tell what they were in their previous lives. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy creating them!

Look out for a sneak peak of the jewelry I have been working on all week-end! I will post some images in the next few days!

Studio Tour

A few times a year the “In Plain View Studio Tour” takes place. You can take a self-guided tour and visit artists in their studio environments and view original art in the setting in which it is created. The final date this year is coming up on June 5/6. I just signed-up to participate as an artist, so if you are interested in seeing my work you can come by my studio between noon and 5:00 on June 5 or 6. My studio is located in the Exchange at the cre8ery gallery, 2nd floor – 125 Adelaide. I have designed some new eco purses and jewelry, so take advantage of the tour and come by to check them out. Click on this link to see a list of other artists participating within cre8ery. If you want to find out more about the tour overall go to http://www.inplainviewwinnipeg.com.

Enjoy the tour!

Eco friendly product shots

I had the opportunity to shoot some products for EcoLicious Equestrian, a local and green company specializing in natural horse care products. TheĀ products are formulated with human-grade botanicals, essential oils, organic and plant-derived ingredients from biodegradable and renewable sources. Most of the grooming products available on the marketĀ are packed with sulphates, silicone, parabens and other bad things. They’re bad for our and the horses’ health and of course bad for our environment. I don’t have any horses, but I have tried their fabulous hand lotion “Hands on” and it’s really great. If you are the proud owner of a horse or are in need of a really good hand lotion check them out. Here are a few pictures from the product photo shoot.

Big day

It was a big and exciting day today. I got to move into my new studio space. Working out of my studio at home has been wonderful, but it is a bit like working in a bubble. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a nice bubble. I think this will be really inspiring for me to be around other artists and become part of the art scene to a bigger degree. The artists I have met so far have been all really welcoming and nice. I can’t wait to spend time at the studio to work and meet the rest of the artist. In total there are 26 artists working out of the space. The studio spaces range from sharedĀ to individual spaces. My studio is one of the shared ones (7 artists in a large space). I set up the studio a bit today but I still have to bring my easel, blank canvases etc. I just couldn’t fit anything else into our car. Thanks Kyle for helping me carry and set up my stuff. Here are a few picture. I will make sure to post more once I am working out of the studio. It’s been a wonderful day!

Vintage Carnival

Last week I had the opportunity to photograph the MacDonald Youth Services Gala Dinner for the third year in a row. The event had a vintage carnival theme and the guests were entertained by magicians and a stilt-walking, balloon animal-making clown while playing carnival games and enjoying popcorn and cotton candy.

The live auction featured amazing trips to Churchill, New York, Tuscany and a cruise on the Rhine river. The event raised over $30000 for the Shelter and other MYS programs. What a wonderful event and cause. I had the privilege to meet some wonderful and inspirational people during the event. Enjoy a few of the pictures!

My jewelry

About 5 months ago I started designing silver jewelry. I thought I would share a look at some of the pieces I have created. A side from being an artist I have always wanted to become a goldsmith. A little bit of that dream is coming true and I absolutely love it! Enjoy and let me know if you are interested in purchasing any pieces. You can contact me at anjastudios@shaw.ca

By the way the jewelry is made from recycled silver that is collected from photographic supplies and computer circuit boards. Beautiful jewelry that makes you feel good about yourself and the environment!
